STEPS TO SALVATION
Take these important steps if you are unsure of your answers to the following questions:
Are you born-again? What will happen to you when you die? Have you experienced the spiritual birth that Jesus said was absolutely necessary for entrance into Heaven?
This is what will determine your eternal destiny according to God’s Word. Jesus said in John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus asked: “How can a man be born again when he is old? Can he enter into his mother’s womb the second time?” But Jesus said: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” That means one must experience spiritual birth in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Friend, you must be born again!
Here are the steps you need to take to become born again.
- Admit that you are a sinner and that only Jesus Christ has the power to save you – Romans 3:23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23).
- Express Godly sorrow. Mourn for your sins. Be aware that when you sinned you personally wronged God – 2 Corinthians 7:10.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
3. Repent. Be willing to turn away from sin and submit to God – Isaiah 55:7.
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
(Isaiah 55:6-7)
4. Confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness – 1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
5. Ask Jesus Christ to become your Lord and Saviour and to take control of your entire life – Romans 10:9-10.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(Romans 10:9-10)
6. Believe that God has answered your prayer – Matthew 21:22, Romans 10:17.
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
(Matthew 21:22),
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(Romans 10:9-10).
Now, pray and invite Jesus Christ into your heart to work this miracle of salvation in your life. Although it is your heart attitude that counts, here is a suggested prayer that might help guide you to receive Christ. Pray it out loud so that you can hear yourself speaking, and believe every word with all of your heart:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I admit that I am a sinner and I willingly repent of my sins and confess them before you as wrong. I renounce my sins, I renounce the past and turn from evil.
Please forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness now. I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He died for my sins and was raised from the dead for my justification. Your Word says, “…with the HEART man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10). I now, therefore, receive and confess Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour. From this moment forward, I belong to you. I will follow You, Jesus, for the rest of my life.
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for saving me and for giving me eternal life!
In Jesus, Name, Amen.
Congratulations on Your Decision to Accept Jesus Christ!
If you want to know God better, you must spend time alone with Him, reading His Word and talking to Him in prayer. This means that as you take the time to read God’s Word, He talks to you; and as you spend time in prayer, you are talking to Him. This way you will grow and develop and mature in your relationship with God, Keep the Faith.
